HYSHKA, Roman
November 25, 1945 - September 12, 2021

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, the family announce the passing of Roman Hyshka on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at St. Paul's Hospital at the age of 75. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years Jinnie (Lozinsky); children Kevin and Tracy (Blake, Ethan and Kasenia); Shelley and Brian (Brady, Parker, Amy and Ava); Kelly; Shawn and Allie (Riley, Hayden, Kaylee and Emma). He is also survived by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary (Thoms); sisters Anne and Olga; brothers Peter, Eugene, John and Orest. Dad was born on the family farm North of Vonda on November 25, 1945. He was the youngest of seven children. While growing up on the family farm, Dad attended grade school at Rak school and completed high school at Aberdeen Composite. After graduating, Dad left the farm to work in Saskatoon. His hard work and determination led to his 35-year career with the City of Saskatoon Electrical Department. Dad started as a draftsman and continued his education to become an Electrical Technologist, retiring in 2000. In 1969 Dad married his high school sweetheart Jinnie. After living in Saskatoon for 11 years, Dad and Mom moved the family to the Hyshka homestead in 1980. Together they raised four children. Dad was active on the farm until his passing. Mom and Dad moved to the Saskatoon in 2018, where he enjoyed a slower pace and socializing at the condo. The foundation of Dad's life was based on family, faith and the farm. He was very proud of all his children and grandchildren. Although Dad faced health challenges along the way, he never let it define him or slow him down. Prayers will be held on Thursday September 16, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. The Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday September 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Fr. Andre Lalach and Rev. Fr. Michael Smolinski. Both services will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Parish, 1202 11th Street East, Saskatoon.
