Anne Stus
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved Mother, Baba and Great-Baba, Anne Stus of Saskatoon. Mom passed away at the age of 88 on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 surrounded by family.
Left to cherish a lifetime of memories are her children, Connie (Wayne) Lozinsky, William, Ivy, Wayne (Doris), Vern, Charlotte (Dean) Olson; seventeen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, Kenneth (Monique) Lozinsky, Jordan and Petra; Shannon (Tim) Oleskiw; Brenna Lozinsky; Wade (Melissa), Wyatt; Dylan; Whitney; Devin (Christina); Brendan (Danielle), Hudson; Valerie (Shaun) O’Grady, Vivienne and Emanuel; Jolie (Jeff) Phaneuf, Mason, Madeleine and Maxwell; Crystal; Jenna (Dave); Luke, Matthew, Nathan, Nicholas and Zachary Olson; siblings, Ernest Hys, Peter (Natalie) Hyshka, (Dorothy) Hyshka, Roman (Jinnie) Hyshka, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Peter Stus (2001); daughter, Shirley Stus (1997); parents, John and Mary Hyshka; siblings, Olga (Joe) Shutiak, Eugene Hyshka and John Hyshka; in-laws, Wasyl and Emelia Stus; sisters-in-law, Ann, Mary Regush, brothers-in-law, Jack and Nick.
Mom was born to John and Mary (Thoms) Hyshka on the family farm north of Vonda on May 25, 1930. The oldest of seven children, she attended Rak School and then worked at the Vonda Cafe for a short time. Mom married Dad and together they raised a family of seven children on the Stus homestead. Mom loved all aspects of farm life, even though it was hard work, and took great pride in her home, garden and yard. She loved nothing more than being in the presence of family and cherished her time as a Baba. Mom also enjoyed getting company and could prepare a feast at a moment’s notice. In 1990 Mom and Dad retired to Vonda where they resided until 1998. They moved to Circle Drive Place in Saskatoon, where she enjoyed taking part in activities and volunteering. Mom was a quiet and gentle soul who saw only the good in all. Her abiding faith in God and devotion to prayer were her guiding lights. She was a member of Vonda Sacred Heart Parish, Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church and a member of the UCWLC. Everything Mom did was for the love of her family. Her passing leaves us with heavy hearts but warm loving memories.
Prayers will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. and Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., both at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1202 11th Street East, Saskatoon, SK. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery. |
