Olga Shutiak (Hyshka) Olga Shutiak passed away peacefully on July 1, 2014, with her family by her side, at the age of 78. Olga was born on February 24, 1936 near Vonda, SK. She was the third child in a family of seven, born to John and Mary (Thoms) Hyshka. She married Joseph Shutiak on October 24, 1954, in Alvena, SK; afterward, making their home in Saskatoon and raising their family. Family was the most important thing in her life. She looked forward to gathering together for a meal, celebrating milestones, and visiting with family. She enjoyed praying, gardening, and making her children's favourite dishes. She was an active member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church since 1956, and spent many years serving with UCWLC, Sanctuary Committee, Confraternity of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Seniors Club, and Bible Study. Her faith led her on pilgrimages to Medjugorje and a genuine devotion to the rosary. Olga is survived by her children, Brenda (Greg) Kitz, Bev, Bernie (Lisa), Brad (Bonnie Newton), Blaire (Tom) Prima; grandchildren, Melissa, Scott Lang-Shutiak, Vanessa, Austin Prima, and Wyatt Newton- Shutiak; great-grandson Emmett; siblings, Anne Stus, Orest, Peter (Nettie), Gene (Dorothy), Roman (Jane); and numerous nieces and nephews. Olga was predeceased by her husband Joseph, son Brian, daughter Bernice; and brother John. Prayers for Olga will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 4, 2014. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014. Both services will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1202 11th Street East, Saskatoon, SK with celebrant Rev. Fr. Dmytro Dnistrian CSsR. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Catholic Cemetery. |
